“Cat’s Birthday Party at Shelter Goes Unnoticed by Potential Adopters”

One of our worst nightmares, besides failing a math test or showing up to school in just slippers, is experiencing a failed RSVP. Picture yourself at a birthday party with balloons all around, watching your candle slowly burn out your childhood dreams. Thankfully, you can turn over and go back to sleep. But for Monique, a 2-year-old rescue cat, things were different. Despite Battersea Dogs and Cats Home throwing her a birthday party, not a single guest showed up. Poor Monique, who has FIV (which cannot be passed to humans), has been at the shelter for 115 days and is now looking for someone to adopt her. Bored Panda got in touch with Nikki Cummins, the communications officer at Battersea Dogs Cats Home, to get all the details on this adorable cat and her current situation.

It has been 115 days, and still no one has shown interest in giving her a forever home, according to Battersea.

According to an interview on Bored Panda, Nikki Cummins mentioned that the internet’s latest sensation, Monique, is completely oblivious to her online fame. “Monique is blissfully unaware of her newfound stardom and is currently enjoying one of her many daily naps,” Cummins stated. Unfortunately, Monique has yet to find a permanent home and continues to reside at a cat shelter. “While she would love to have a home of her own, she has settled into life at the shelter and enjoys spending quality time with our staff.”

Although Monique’s birthday celebration did not result in any potential adopters, Nikki ensures that she received a lot of love and attention. Described as a “sweet and affectionate young cat,” Monique was initially shy but has now flourished into a happy feline who loves interacting with people.

Monique’s Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is not transmittable to humans, but potential adopters must be patient and understanding. With proper care, many cats with FIV can lead normal and healthy lives. However, Monique will need to be the only cat in the household and have access to a secure outdoor area. Nikki advises that new owners should allow Monique time to adjust and gradually build trust with her. Once she opens up, they will have a loyal companion for life, as stated by the Battersea shelter representative.

According to the shelter, Monique enjoys being with people but because she has FIV+, she needs to be the only pet in the household.
